We love Amsterdam – it’s hip, it’s cool, it’s got to be on the hit list. And it’s currently going through a bit of a revival, it’s got hot restaurants, hip cafes and seriously cool bars. And the sightseeing is pretty spot on too.
If your clients are heading on a trip to Europe, then a trip to Amsterdam has to be on their agenda. So if you have 48 hours in Amsterdam, we’re going to give you some top suggestions on what to see whilst you are there.
A fantastic way to see the city is on a canal cruise. The history of the city is based around its canals and in 2010, became UNSECO protected. There are lots to choose from, but it’s a great way to learn about the city on one of the many guided canal cruises. Some have different themes, so take your pick and lose a few hours on the water.
Amsterdam has a great public transport system, and one of the best ways to get around the city is by tram. An I Amsterdam city card includes unlimited travel, access to its 70+ museums and attractions and a canal tour!
Head to Museumplein, home to three huge museums.; the most famous of which is Rijksmuseum. Hot tip – get there early, pretty much as soon as it opens as it gets really busy with tourists. You’ve also got Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk Museum. Good news is that it’s just a 10-minute stroll from De Pijp, one of Amsterdams hip café districts, where a Stroopwafel has to be tasted! All that art can certainly build up an appetite! Wandering from one end to the other will kill a few hours and a great place for people watching!
And of course, not forgetting the world-famous Anne Frank Museum (book online before you go) which is an unbelievable insight in to a fascinating young lady and times, thankfully gone by.
