Luxury has a new address – Marsden Hotel opens in Burwood
Marsden Hotel has added an exciting new venture to its growing portfolio, with the opening of a second boutique hotel, Marsden Hotel Burwood. This marks the first luxury hotel to open in the Inner Western Sydney suburb in over a decade.
Following the successful launch of the first Marsden Hotel in Parramatta last year, Marsden sought to deliver the same boutique luxury to Marsden Hotel Burwood. The construction of the hotel has introduced an impressive and elegant mainstay to the inner-city neighbourhood.
With a commitment to quality, Marsden has brought on experienced hotel veteran David Johnston as General Manager. Johnston has previously been involved in successful projects for the Ritz Carlton and Intercontinental.
“We’ve spared no expense with this latest venture, to create a hotel to rival the best in the CBD, where the genuine care and comfort of our guests is our highest priority,” says Johnston. “Guests can expect the best in personal service and facilities, from our meticulously crafted rooms, to impeccable dining experiences.”
Marsden Hotel features 90 spacious rooms equipped with bespoke furnishings and fixtures. Bedrooms come complete with Sleepmaker Latex award-winning beds, hypoallergenic linens, Egyptian cotton towels and locally sourced, luxury amenities. A daily a la carte breakfast menu boasts a smorgasbord of fresh-made sandwiches, eggs, cakes and in-house baked bread, courtesy of the hotel’s in-house patisserie, Artisaint.
Guests can choose from four room types; Marsden King, Deluxe Twin, Executive and Suite, with each option fitted with elegant décor and furnishings. Every detail has been carefully considered, down to modern dark wood flooring, luxurious marble bathrooms and gold accents throughout each room. Guests can also revel in 24-hour room service – perfect for those late-night bites – alongside a pillow menu and a dedicated concierge.
“The hotel encapsulates our vision to bring an air of indulgence and grandeur to an unexpected destination, creating new experiences for guests and locals to marvel at every turn,” Johnston explains. “We’ve combined old and new, embracing modern architectural elements and décor, whilst celebrating the history of Australia through the incorporation of wood from the original ANZAC bridge in the wall panelling of our restaurant.”
The hotel is also home to a rooftop pool and bar, restaurant and artisan patisserie, all of which are open to the public. Guests can also take full advantage of the fitness centre, function spaces and conference rooms.
The restaurant, Onyx Grill, is headed up by experienced chef and Ireland native, Connor Plunkett, who takes inspiration from around the world to deliver an upmarket dining experience with a relaxed ambience. Plunkett was previously the Senior Chef at Quay and, in Dublin, worked at the Gordon Ramsay restaurant in the Ritz Carlton. The restaurant also champions local suppliers, with quality steaks from Vic’s Meat, locally sourced seafood and seasonal produce, as well as a range of in-house, dry aged meats. The seasonal menu also caters to vegetarian, vegan and gluten free patrons, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
The Artisaint patisserie, a play on the word ‘artisan’, is the epitome of European luxury. In-house pâtissiers use traditional French pastry-making methods to create a selection of croissants, pain au chocolat, tarts, macarons and baguettes. Guests and locals can also head up to the Skye Rooftop Bar and Pool, a Mediterranean-inspired oasis, and recline by the pool, enjoy a boozy brunch or grab cocktails in the evening. The bar offers a bespoke food and drink menu, complete with signature cocktails, happy hours, on-trend DJ’s and regularly hosts exclusive parties.
Marsden Hotel Burwood brings a luxury escape to Sydney’s Burwood. With impeccable service, comfort and care at its heart, Marsden caters to every need and desire of the local community, guests, corporates and out-of-towners.
