Northern Territory, Location Scouts – John Platt

Van Vuuren Bros. head to the Top End

The award-winning Van Vuuren Brothers have created a new comedy web series set in the Northern Territory, Location Scouts, which is a hilarious behind-the-scenes look at blockbuster Aussie rom-com Top End Wedding.

The six-part comedy series follows the story of fictional veteran location scout, Steve Grogan and his millennial off-sider Morgan, as they roam the Top End in search for the ultimate NT locations for the Top End Wedding movie.

The clashing duo travel throughout the Top End, showcasing the incredible landscapes of Darwin, Kakadu, Nitmiluk National Park, Katherine and the Tiwi Islands, searching for the perfect backdrops for the movie, which stars acclaimed Aussie actress Miranda Tapsell and British actor Gwilym Lee of Bohemian Rhapsody fame.

Failing to be of much use to the crew but managing to have a wild experience full of trials, conflicts and bonding moments, Steve and Morgan show that while bridging the generation gap isn’t easy, for viewers it’s great fun to watch.

“We had such an awesome time travelling around the NT shooting this series. It’s astonishing that we have these incredible locations right in our own backyard,”

said Christiaan Van Vuuren.

Tourism NT Executive General Manager of Marketing Tony Quarmby added: “The Van Vuuren Brothers’ sense of humour is perfect for the bold and unforgettable spirit and environment of the Territory.”

Top End Wedding premiered globally at The Sundance Film Festival in January and opened in Australian cinemas on May 2, becoming the number one new release, and number two film overall behind Avengers Endgame.
