Riviera Maya voted “Best Destination in Mexico”
Riviera Maya was once again recognized as “Best Destination in Mexico” by the Travel Weekly Readers’ Choice Awards, an honor that has been bestowed upon the destination since 2004.
The Travel Weekly Awards recognize the best in travel across 78 categories, including hotels, tours, destinations, airlines and cruises. The nominees and award recipients were chosen in two rounds of voting by Travel Weekly’s audience of travel professionals. The coveted awards are presented annually to the industry suppliers who led the way in product and service during the past year. The open ballot phase of the voting was conducted during the summer. Travel Weekly readers were invited to write in the names of any company they believe best exemplifies a particular category. The leading vote recipients were identified as finalists and voting on finalists took place September through November 2018.
The award ceremony took place at the Conrad New York on December 13, where Quintana Roo Tourism Board Director, Darío Flota, received the prestigious accolade.
“It is an honor to continue being acknowledged for the unwavering popularity of Riviera Maya,” said Flota. “As an international tourism leader, we’re delighted to be recognized once again for the longevity of such an iconic destination and the hard work of our tourism sector.”
The Travel Weekly Readers’ Choice Award winners, in categories ranging from hotels to tours to airlines to destinations and more, represent the best of the best in travel. These prestigious awards are presented annually to travel industry suppliers who exceed their clients’ expectations in service and product offerings.
