Next Hotels & Resorts have appointed senior roles across the group in a commitment to continuing growth in Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane and establishing a co-managerial team in Newcastle.

With the departure of General Manager, Marcus Dudley, from Sage Hotel Ringwood Next has appointed James Coleman to the role. James previously served at Sage Hotel and Chifley South Terrace in Adelaide. James is dedicated to taking up the challenge of the Sage Ringwood property, the latest in the network of outstanding Hotels.

Next Hotel Brisbane’s General Manager, Justin McConnell who joined the group in February 2017 has now relocated to Adelaide to step into the General Manager role for both properties.

As a result, a newly created position as Area General Manager has seen Craig Syphers appointed to oversee the Queensland assets of Next Hotel Brisbane and Sage Hotel James St located in Fortitude Valley.

Craig will support the existing General Manager, Alice Sampson and joins Next Hotels & Resorts with over three decades of experience covering all aspects of hospitality moving through the ranks of Food and Beverage, numerous Conference and Sales positions and leading to six General Management roles with the most recent representing the Pan Pacific and Park Royal Brands in Singapore.

Chifley Apartments in Newcastle will now be co-managed by Jason Morrow and Lauren Scott. They will share the responsibilities of a General Manager role, whilst living on-site and overseeing the property 24/7.

Jason was most recently General Manager of Hunter Gateway Motel Rutherford in New South Wales, Australia. Prior to that, he held executive positions at Rydges Horizons Snowy Mountain Jindabyne, Jenolan Caves House and Quay West Resort Bunker Bay in Australia. Jason started his hospitality career in Canada more than 10 years ago before moving to Australia. His wife, Lauren, has four years of hospitality experience and has worked in Front Desk, Housekeeping and F&B at Hunter Gateway Motel Rutherford and Rydges Horizons Snowy Mountain Jindabyne.

The pair will cement Next Hotels & Resorts managerial appointments across the beginning of the new financial year.

John Warren, Managing Director, said he was impressed by the leadership, experience and hospitality skills shown by all candidates for the new roles.

‘‘Next Hotels & Resorts is determined to provide the best corporate and leisure experience to all guests and we are positioning ourselves to a market demographic that values great service, great experiences and competitive rates. We now have the leaders in place now to push growth across all of our brands.”
