Chiva-Som commences third stage of renovations
Chiva-Som International Health Resort has commenced the third stage of its renovation program running from May through to October with the reopening scheduled for 1 November 2018.
The latest developments to the leading wellness resort, situated in Hua Hin, Thailand, will comprise a complete overhaul to the Thai Pavilions, Emerald Room, Orchid Lounge, Library, Fitness Centre and Niranlada Medi-Spa. In line with the new resort master plan, the hallmarks of which are contemporary and supremely comfortable interiors, the new look is realised with materials such as local teak, silk and bamboo. Keeping their quintessential Thai spirit intact, the Thai Pavilions will be brighter, lighter and more spacious, creating a serene, calming space which reflects the tranquility of the resort. A new room category, the Thai Pavilion Suite, will feature an outdoor pantry and its own outdoor private glass-walled sala, a private space for around six guests set amidst the tranquil gardens and suitable for private meals, meditation or just for relaxing.
The addition of a glass wall in the Emerald Room will create a fresh, contemporary and relaxing space, flooded with natural light, where guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Orchid Lounge will undergo a complete makeover to become an inviting and sociable spot in which guests can interact, welcoming also a piano and pond-side seating new open juice bar. The Library will become airier and the new home of the retail shop, whilst the Guest Relations Desk will be moved to a more private and discreet part of the resort.
The Fitness Centre will increase in size to incorporate a larger gym area and a separate stretching space with an array of new cardio equipment, functional and non-functional training equipment as well as a private training room. The Kinesis Room will be renamed the Re-functional Studio, home to a private Neurac Room, Functional Assessment room and boasting brand new equipment including a BIODEX 4 PRO Isokinetic Dynamometer to help with rehabilitation, leg mobility and balance, as well as preparing the body for more strenuous exercise. Further additions are the highly versatile and space-efficient Queenax functional training equipment; a unique suspended body weight training system and an Electrical Muscle Stimulation system (Vision Body) to help reduce exercise-induced joint damage and aid recovery. The Niranlada Medi-Spa will evolve from its original clinical design to become a warm, homely and relaxing oasis. The consultation room will provide greater privacy during body assessments and a brand new makeup room will be added for guests requiring a little further indulgence.
The resort may be temporarily closed, however the wellness journey is still ongoing as the dedicated Chiva-Som specialists continue to guide and share their expert knowledge through a series of short videos called Talking Wellness; covering a range of activities and advice from massage techniques to cooking demonstrations, all are available to watch on the resort’s website, Youtube channel and Facebook page. The resort will also continue with its key CSR activities throughout the closure, which include the maintenance of the Krailart Niwate mangrove ecosystem and visiting and providing goods and treatments to local communities.
This latest stage of the extensive remodelling follows on from the unveiling of the new Ocean Rooms and Suites in 2017 and will continue with the fourth and final phase of works commencing on 1 May 2019 with the temporary closure of the resort for the same period.
This highly anticipated refurbishment is being overseen by Chiva-Som International Health Resort Chairman and CEO, Mr. Krip Rojanastien who, together with Designrealization Siam co. ltd, one of the world’s most respected architecture forms, has developed a modern and fresh take on Asia’s much loved classic.
